Mario Lorito

Mario has been in the thoroughbred horse industry for over 20 years. His love for horses started in his teen years. He initially started as a groom and also learned breaking and training horses at a local farm in the horse capital of the world, Ocala, FL. Although his father hoped for him to continue in his footsteps at the family Italian Restaurant, his passion chose otherwise. Shortly after working as a groom, Mario began training horses. During that time he was an assistant trainer to JJ Pletcher in which he was involved with the breaking and training of Scat Daddy, who became a successful racehorse and prominent stallion. He was also an assistant trainer to Jorge Navarro and was involved with several successful claiming horses. Although Mario has traveled the horse circuit, he choses to stay in Florida and has run numerous horses with a high percentage, predominantly at Tampa Bay Downs and Gulf Stream Park.
